THE PRELUDE

THE GREETING

THE WORD OF GRACE

*THE HYMN Joyful, Joyful,We Adore Thee (vs. 1,3) #89

THE PRAYER

Eternal God, we praise you for the great company of all those who have finished their course in faith and now rest from their labors. We praise you for the memory of those dear to us whom we name in our hearts before you. Especially, we praise you for Mac McGrew, whom you have graciously received into your presence. To all of these, grant your peace. Let your perpetual light shine upon them, and help us so to believe where we have not seen, that your presence may lead us through our years, and bring us at last with them into the joy of your home not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. AMEN!

THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON             Psalm 23

*THE HYMN Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart (vs. 1,4) #160

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

We are not alone, we live in God's World.
We believe in God;
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the word made flesh,
      to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the church:
      to celebrate God's presence,
      to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
      our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
      God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.            AMEN!

THE COMMENDATION

THE PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

God of love, we thank you for all with which you have blessed us even to this day; for the gift of joy in days of health and strength, and for the gift of your abiding presence in days of pain and grief. We praise you for home and friends, for our baptism and place in your church with all who have faithfully lived and died. Above all else, we thank you for Jesus, who knew our grief, who died our death and arose for our sake, and who lives and prays for us. As he taught us, so now we pray:
